The 24th Louisiana Consolidated Crescent Disbands After Shiloh…with Two Other Fine Documents
DS
Three items: the first a scarce Confederate manuscript accounting from the 24th Louisiana Crescent Regiment, one page, measuring 7" x 13" and listing the stores from the Regiment turned over to the Quartermaster from June 18, 1862 – July 5, 1862. Expected wear and light, scattered foxing, overall in very good condition..

The document lists items such as letterhead, axes, spades, coffee pots, kettles, shoes and socks, and more necessities, and is signed by Captain "R. D. Gribble."

Offered with: a partly-printed document, one page, 12" x 7.5", March 5, 1862, a clothing manifest of items for four soldiers, listing the items and value. One soldier listed, Robert Kilgore, would be killed in action at the Battle of Mansfield, while another, William Anderson, was wounded there. Also in very good condition.

Offered with: a manuscript document signed, one page, 8.5" x 11", Natchitoches, January 30, 1865, titled "Special Order No. 24," in which Captain David Collie of the Crescent Regiment is appointed to the court martial by order of Lieutenant General Simon B. Buckner, and signed by his Assistant Adjutant General. A few tiny holes, otherwise very good.

The 24th Louisiana Crescent Regiment transferred to Confederate service in New Orleans on March 6, 1862, and immediately went to Corinth to reinforce Beauregard's army. The regiment was disbanded on June 3, 1862, by Braxton Bragg. Most men went into the 18th Louisiana Regiment, seeing action in many major engagements under Colonel George P. McPheeters.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
