He was also an influential figure in the drafting of the Louisiana Civil Code of 1825, a civil code based largely on the Napoleonic Code.

John Henry Livingston (1746-1825) was an American Dutch Reformed minister who served as the fourth President of Queen's College (now Rutgers University), from 1810 until his death in 1825.

Peter Van Brugh Livingston (1710-1792) was named after his grandfather, Pieter Van Brugh (1666-1740), who served as the Mayor of Albany.
