-Extensive diplomatic correspondence between the Argentine Foreign Office in Buenos Aires, the Argentine Legation in London and the British Foreign Office, discussing various steps and proposals

The boundary dispute between Argentina and Chile, which lasted for over half a century, was officially settled by the arbitration of King Edward VII, whose award in November 1902 amounted to a division of the disputed area. It was in commemoration of this settlement that the two nations erected above the tunnel of the Transandine Railway the famous statue "Christ of the Andes". Under the terms of the treaty of 1902, Britain had continued to arbitrate in more recent disputes concerning the Beagle Channel of Tierra de Fuego, which lasted for a majority of the 20th century.
